Mika - Grace Kelly Video

This is a Amplification music video as the singer performance and becomes part of the narrative in the video. The video uses a young girl through it who talks but uses an over voice from someone else which makes her sound older than she actual is. The video uses a variety of different aged people making it a wider open video for the audience. The song links well to the video as its just having fun and connects to the lyrics. The narrative code of the video is loose as it is based in a house and uses simple ideas so the audience might find it boring after a while, the lighting they use in it make it look interesting and stands out but there isn't anything unique to it.The dominant musical arrangement that sets the overall mood is the piano as it starts at the beginning showing him playing it and its the instrument that gives it the beat to the song. It uses a lot of lip syncing of close ups mainly as this is the primarily choice to get the whole view of the singers face and extreme close ups and long shots are used when it comes to the chorus as they use different angles. This is more of a performance than Mika being in the narrative as it doesn't show a story to it, as the video doesn't connect with the lyrics. The camera movement used in this video is whip pans that get the whole shot in one as well as fast dolly track being used to get the scene into one. The editing jumps from location to location showing the band and then the narrative comes into play through out the video showing a montage editing shots. The lighting is a key feature when it comes to a music video using extreme lights to stand out in the dark and placed around his face to see expression. The Mise-en-scene is just set in a house with family and friends having a party.
