Feedback For My Music Video

I have completed my music video and have had some feedback from people in my class, giving their opinions on what iv done well and things I could improve on for my music video.
This is the feedback I got from my class:
Some clips from the music video are quite dark- I didn't realise that this shots were that dark until I put them on to the computer and put them into my video. I would of liked to re-filmed them to get lighter and better quality shots but I didn't have the time to re-shoot as the girls I was using in my video didn't have any spare time as they have college and work. This makes it difficult to re-shoot any shots I wanted to do because I couldn't get them all together at one time or at the times I was free. Also the days get darker early from when I began my redcording so getting home from school and getting to film is hard as I only had an hour before it got dark sometimes even less time. All of this contributed to not being able to re-film certain shots.
Lip syncing out- When I went through my music video I could see that the lip scncing was a bit out but I wanted to get all the video together first just so I knew how many shots I needed. Over time I replaced shots and shortened or made them longer so they would fit in perfectly with the lip scying. This is now noticable in my music video as its sycned perfectly with the song.
Good backgrounds used but some not as good as others- The backgrounds I used were all different as I want each member of the band to have a different style and feel to them. The graffiti background worked very well with Beth as the location was good and the lighting was also good as we shoot outside with the sun on her face. I used a painted background for Alex as I wanted different backgrounds for each girl as this showed their different styles. Alex's background was in my garage where the lighting wasnt the best as I didnt have extra light and wasnt much space to this is why you can see my garage door in some shots but I think it still worked well. My final member of the band I did on a brick wall for her background and this worked well as we were outside with day light but what I didnt realise was that the nights were drawing in and it started to get darker earlier which you can see when you watch this music video. After realising this there wasnt enough time in the day to get a good lighting shot for this particular scene.
Dance moves good idea but some need to be excuded more professionally- I decided to add dance moves in as its a up beat song and a lot of girl bands do a bit of dancing in their videos. The girls learnt the moves on the spot and spent a few minutes practicing to make sure they were insick with each other. Some could have been better excuded by having a bit longer learning the moves but over all I thought they were bright good and I didnt have extra time with the girls because of their schdules.
Drawings dont fit in- I disagree with this statment as they fit in with the chrous of the song "wings are made to fly". My picures so a butterfly spreading its wings and flying. I do have to say if I had more time I would of made the pictures better quality or got them off the interent as they were pretty plain.
Better quality camera shots- After shooting my shots I could see that some shots werent as good quality to others and I did some re-shooting but when it came to doing Beckys shots I couldnt re-do them as hers were outside and it was getting darker earlier so by the time she got to mine and we went to go do the recording it was already getting dark and I didnt have any extra light to make it look brighter and it always wasnt part of my video to make my shots look like this.
Include more letting shots- I took this advice and added extra letting into the video where I thought it best fit. I like this part of my video as its not all scene of the girls it has a bit of a different look to it with the words of the song coming up at different section through the video.
More locations could of been used- I disagree with this comment as I used three different locations and I was going to use a fourth location but when I went to do recording it was raining outside on the green I was going to use for the long shots and dancing moves, so I had to think of something different to do and did it in my garage as it was the only space I could find at the time. I got comments on the garage shots saying they werent very good or professional which I do agree with but I tried a few times to go outside and it just rained everyime so had to go with plan B.

Feedback On Music Video

I haven't put up my music video as I didn't know how to put it up onto my blog. However, from the amount I have done so far I can see I haven't got a few clips so the other day I got the girls together and re-did a few clips I thought I was missing. I also did a few extra shots that I think will go well in my music video. My band is called the lazer lights so I decided to paint the letters 'TLL' as these are the letters that associates with my band. I took a few shots of this as it will work well in my music video and will allow my audience to know who they are as this will be the tag for my band that will be a shortened version of their actual band name. I also did some extra shots of the girls painting so if I have any spaces in my music video I can add them in for more effect as each of my clips are about a second long so I need plenty of extra shots just in case I run out and I will also re-use some shots as this is done in many music videos you see as this extends the time of the video and means I wont need to spend more time on different shots that might not fit in as well as the others. Some clips are quite long so when it comes to editing them I will speed them up of cut them shorter so they fit in with the miming and the gaps where there is no singing.
I am not able to use one of the background's because I have used it before and needed to use it for another background that is shown in the end of the video so when it comes to re-shooting any of Alex's shots I wont be able to use the background so I will only be able to take extra shots of the other to band members. However I have decided if I need any extra shots of Alex I will do close ups and miming shots where I wont particularly need to use the background again, so I can work around this problem.

Advert Feedback Analysis

I got quite a bit of feedback for this piece of work, but nothing to negative just improvements. The photograph I have chosen for this page works well with the genre im using for the music video but the only worry is will I be able to keep it up to this standard. I will try my best to get it to the best standard as possible to get the best grade I can so some elements will have to be included when thinking about how to make this happen. I will think about the sort of clothing I want my girls to wear that best shows their individual styles and what looks the most fashionable. I want the photos to look good quality so I will add effects if needed to give extra brightness to it.

I have took a few photos already and the idea I have of three individual shots of the girls and them putting them together could be a good idea but it will need a lot of work done to make sure it comes out right and looks professional. I have already took photos of two of my members with different background and I think they look quite fashionable but I might need to rethink the style im going for as it really needs to link back to my digipack style as the two products have to look similiar so the target market know who they are. I will use different outfits in the photographs and see what looks best so then I have more of a range to chose from.

To make sure the advert looks as professional and believable as possible I will have to add all the finishsing touches which includes extra text at the bottom of the page including their twitter account so viewers can follow them as well as their facebook and officle website address so everyone can access them. I will also have a record label and logo shown at the bottom of the page. I will experiment with the postitioning of the additional text, but for now I will stick to the font I have already used on the digipack and the size im thinking of using. I dont want the additional text to be to big as the main text, for example the names of the two new songs need to stand out compared to any other text on the page as this is the most important information.

I could also add the ratings from a magazaine which realtes to the target audience which could be Pop or heat magazine parhaps, I need to do some more research on this particular part. I do believe that the additional text could make the page look over crowded and take the main focus away from the page so I have to try and keep to a quite simiplictic approach. I will also show the data the album is out which is another big part of information that will be shown in a bigger font to the other text. All the extra information im adding to the advert will make it look more genuine which is one of the most difficult parts to create and make it believeable.
I will use the fonts I have chosen to use on the digipack on the advert as well as this will relate both of the products back to each other which will make it easy for the viewers to know whos album and advert their looking at. To improve the copy from above I will make sure the text is lined up together and looks neat and tidy on the page. I am happy with the text font and the sizes iv used but when adding the additional text I might have to make some of the text smaller just to be able to fit on to the page and keep it look neat. I like how iv positioned it but it could become bottom heavy once iv added the additional text. I will do experiments with where to put the text until I find the perfect position for it so the final design looks to the stand I want.

Digipack Feedback Analysis

The feedback I got for my digipack was mostly positive but there were a few things that were brought up. I have used images off the internet as I havent taken pictures yet but ill be taking my own photos soon of my band members, so I will have to try keep the same style and mise en scene when it comes to my own images. I want to make sure my images are as good quailty as the ones iv picked from the internet and makes sure their suitable for the genre iv chosen. The models im using for my girl band will have similiar outfits to the girls shown on my draft digipack, but they might not be agsact as the people im using might not have the clothes I first want to use. However i will make sure there pretty close, so hopefully they will look the part giving a genuine believable image.

I would like to recreate the image of the girls being close together and some individual shots for the other sides to make it more interesting. I need to take many shots to see what best fits the style i want to use for the band. I would like to do this as it links into my music video locations as well. The cover image I have found and put onto the digipack I personally like but when it comes to my own cover picture it would be as bright and professional as this. I will try my best to make it look similiar as I like the style and it would fit the genre im doing. I will keep to a colour scheme so it all relates back to each other and isnt hard to look at. The covers inside will have an individual image of each band member on each panel with the same style as the front cover so it connects throughout.

IMAGE
My backgrounds are going to be all the same on the digipack because I got feedback on how the draft wasnt linked together and each panel felt disjointed from the rest, so ill make sure each picture I take will use the same background and colours so they all relate to each other. I will also use the same colouor scheme thoughout the album as this will link it all back to each other and will be easy for the target market to see and understand.
TEXT
I forgot to add the two main songs that were featured on my advert onto the digipack song list, so ill have to remeber to add them and make sure theres 12 to 14 songs as thats the amount a Pop genre would have. The feedback I got for the fonts I used on the digipack were positive and connected well with the genre of the video and the girls im using. I will keep to the font style throughout the digipack and also onto the advert as this will connect well together and make it easy for the target market to know who they are.

Feedback

After doing my 25 word Pitch to the class I got some feedback from a few of the class members about the ideas I have for my music video and what I could change to make it better and more interesting. Also to make sure my video isnt to similar to the actual Little Mix, Wings music video.

  • I could use 3 girls instead fo 4 to make it easier for me when it comes to filming as I need girls that will be there when I need them to help me and want to make sure they know the song and can mime to it. Also I want my girl band to look different to Little Mix, as I might of chosen their song but I want my music video to look completely different by using a range of ideas from other girl band music videos.
  • I need to make sure I have plenty of different shots outdoors and indoors. Also I need to make sure I dont copy to much of the Little Mixs, Wings video as its a newer song which means itll be harder to chose the kind of shots I want and cant make them to similiar as it can be copy rights.
  • I need to look into other music videos that include girl bands and see what kind of things they do and include a range of different shots. Ill have to think of the shots I need and make sure they look professional, this can be done by doing lots of test shots and picking the best shot for the video I want.
Changes: I have decided to use three people for my music video instead of four as I think itll make it easier for me to work with three girls as they all live close to me and if I ask they will have the time to help me out. I need to rethink the type of shots I want and get more research on the shots i could use to get the best finishing product. I was also thinking of tworking with one girl at a time so I can do singular shots and then get the girls together when I need to do a group shot which will save me lots of time.
