Film Planning 5

This will be the last time I record the girls. I am getting them all together for the dancing shots and I have had to film in my garage again because of the rain so I am limited to space. This was the only day I could do it as this is when they were all free. I will be getting shots of them together with close ups and mid shots of them singing and dancing. I will also do individual shots as the garage isn't big enough to fit them all into the camera at once so individual shots will have to be done for some, so these are a few things I have to change throughout the course of making my music video.
Changes made throughout filming:

• Days of filming have had to be moved around as one of the girls cant make a certain day because of work or college.
• Locations having to change because of the weather and not being able to go outside.
• Shots being changed because the area im in isn't big enough for long shots so had to work around it and do mid shots or individual shots to get the whole scene in.
• One of the girls forgetting the right clothes I want them to wear so having to work with the clothing we have, but worked out well in the end.

After putting the video together I will have to see if there are any shots i need to redo to get a better mark as the quality isn't as great or im missing shots out that I need or need extra shot to fill in some of the time gaps in the music video.

Film Planning 4

Today I will get a few group shots done that need to be filmed inside in my garage where they aren't moving around to much and finish off Alex's and Becky's recording too. Each girl is dressed in something different from the other shots and I have put them together with Alex in the middle because she is blonde and the other two are brown and are also wearing leather jackets. I will change them around when doing other shots as in the band they are all equal so they'll all get their place in the lime light. I will also get some extra shots of the girl painting and dancing for shots that will be in my music video as they wont be singing all the time. I am using the camera from the school again and the tripod as I have brought them both home as I made sure all the girls were free to do it tonight.

Planning 3

Today I will be meeting up with Becky and Alex to film their individual shots as I have borrowed the camera and tripod from the school library and have took it home over the holiday as I want to use my time wisely. Becky will be wearing her green baggy to with leggings and leather jacket. I will be shooting Becky's shots on the green behind my house on the brick wall as this will be her background for her character. I will try get get half of her shots done today so I only have to meet up with her one more time. Alex will be wearing leopard print leggings and a black vest top as this is a bit different to the other two and stands out. I will be shooting Alex's shots in my garage on the background I have paint for her as I want each member from the band to have a different background so viewers will remember who they are when watching the music video over. Im hoping to also get half of Alex's shots done today, leaving me less shots to do next time I see them both.

Track List

This is the playlist I took my inspiration from to make my playlist for my digipack. This is Demi Lovato album 'Here we go again'. I took some of the songs from her playlist as they work well with the image im going for and relate to the girls im using. I took the song im using for my music video from the band 'Little Mix' as its a new song that has be realized in the charts and it got my attention because of the style of the video as its up beat and happy with simple but fun out look on the music video. They are a new band and thought it would be a good song as everyone would of heard it before and be excited to be part of making my music video.

Film Planning 2

Today I have chosen to do another section of the filming I need to do with Beth. I will do another minute of filming with her as she plays two parts in the music video so im doing the second person as I did the first one last time with a few extra shots for the video. I will be using the camera and tripod again and will be filming in the same location as I did before but I will give her a different background just to give it a different feel and make it more interesting. She will be wearing something different from last time as she is acting as another person. It is being filmed in the Lutterworth area again in school time as this is the best time to do it with Beth as she comes to the school when the other two of my band members don't. I will be doing close ups, mid shots and miming today and also some dancing to give some life and excitement to the video.

Film Planning

Today I am starting recording for my music video. I am going to start with Beth as she comes to Lutterworth and the background I want to use for her character is in the Lutterworth area. I will be doing the first minute of my music video because of the weather as its cold and don't want to be outside for to long so I will split her filming into three different days. Each time I will get her to wear something different as they'll be many different shots of her because of the style of the video im doing. I will be using a camera and tripod to film her as ill be doing close ups and mid shots of her and need the camera to be stable at all times so I get the best quality shots as I possible can. I will be able to change the hight I want the camera to be in with the tripod giving me more options on what to do. Beth will be wearing a flower top and jeans with her leather jacket for these first few shots.

Location Shots For My Video

These are a few location I have thought of that I could use for my filming as they would work well with the music video im making.

• Using the media room
• streets around the area I live in
• Garage wall that back on to the green or in the garage
• In a hall or big room, or even an open space so they can dance
• The wall in Lutterworth down water works where it has graffiti

Risk Assessment

For this part of my course work I will be identifying the possible risks that I could face whilst making the music video. By doing this it will alert me to anything that could go wrong or cause someone to get injured and be able to fix it before I get started, so im planning ahead. Below is the risk assessment I have made:

Cast:
Problem- The girls im wanting to use might not be able to turn up when I need them.
Overcome- Ask the girls when their free and make a schedule so then I know who im filming each day.
Prevent- Ask my friends that I know will be reliable.

Problem- Girls tripping
Overcome- Make sure everything the girls need in the shot is there and no objects that aren't needed get in the way whilst filming.
Prevent- Plan ahead making sure I know what props will be used so I can make sure there secure and where the girls will be directed so nothing gets in their way whilst filming.

Editing:
Problem- Losing footage either when importing or when sharing camera with others.
Overcome- Make sure the files are backed up and saved each time when used.
Prevent- Make sure no one deletes your shots and also make sure im using the computer with the right software.

Problem- Shots aren't long enough or to long giving the film gaps when music playing.
Overcome- Film extra footage just in case I need extra shots added to make the video longer for any reason.
Prevent- Make sure my storyboard and shot list are reliable when working from it.

Equipment:
Problem- Camera becomes faulty or breaks.
Overcome- Make sure all filming is saved so I don't lose any and have a back up camera if first one breaks.
Prevent- Whenever the camera is in use make sure it secure either to my hand with the strap or fastened to the tripod.

Mise-en-scene:
Problem- Clothing may not be available.
Overcome- Make sure the girls have the clothing you want them to wear and can swap clothes if necessary.
Prevent- Make sure the girls have the clothes needed in the video and are willing to lead their clothes to each other.

Problems- Lose or props not available to use.
Overcome- Make sure I have another idea if props aren't available and also to have spares.
Prevent- Use props that I already own or are easy to get hold of and know when I can use them prior to the filming.

Location:
Problem- Location I wanted cant be used.
Overcome- Make sure there a multiple other places we can film the shots I want.
Prevent- Check each location I want to use before filming to make sure its usable.

Schedule List

The shooting of my video will begin on the 1st of october as soon as iv done all the story boards and work preperation so I know excatly what im doing before I start the making of my music video. My story board will have to be complete so I know the order of the shots im doing it in. I will have to have th go ahead from the teacher to start shooting my video as I need feedback if they believe I could make the shots different and fit the genre and song better, as I want the best affect for my music video.

1. On the 2nd of October I will do the shots of just Beth one of the band members on her own so I can just focus on how I want her to look and find the settings I want to use to best fit her style. Ill do the close ups of her facial expression and miming as well as mid shots of what shes wearing and of her doing her own thing whilst in the shot, so she can have a bit of fun which will show her personality.
2. On the 5th of October I will move on to Sophies shots, who is also another member of the band that will have individual shots which include close ups and mid shots to get her miming in and also I can get the style of clothing she likes in as each girl has a Pop look but in different fashion sence. Beth and Sophies shots will be in school and also out of school but because they both come to the school it will make it easer for me to spend time making sure the shots are what I want.
3. Throughout the time of filming both girls I will also spend time after school filming Becky as she doesnt come to this school and ill take a lot of out of school time to film her individual shots which will be done from the 4th of October to the 7th. For each of these shots ill use the natural light in the day and when doing close ups ill use extra light on their faces so you can see their expressions better.
4. When it comes to group shots I will have to find the right time when each girl is free and get them together to film these shots which will be long shots of them walking down the road and dancing together using the evening light that will fit my video perfectly.
5. Finally I will have to draw out the butterfly im wanting to use in the music video as well as the bands name being painted behind them this will be the final shots I do as they should be simple and wont take much of the girls time as they'll only be featured in a few.

To do list

Here is a list of things we need to do before I can shoot my music video:

• Buy two different coloured paint pots
• Buy three or four A3 sheets of paper
• Organise costumes and make up for each band member
• Get props together e.g. paint brushes, paint pots and paper
• Rent out camera from school
• Organise a shot list into the correct scenes
• Find the locations I want for my video

Representation

Who/What- The charaters im using in my video are three young teen girls who are seen to be fun, exciting and have bubberly personalities and will each have different representations that fit in with the song. Our music video represents normal teen girls going out and spending time together showing a closeness between friends which people can relate to. Also the song represents youths of today growing up and finding there place in society and going through life with an open mind and not giving up. For example, the quote from the music video saying "moma told me not to waste my life, she said spread your wings my little butterfly", this shows that the girls have to face life and try their hardest.
Why- I chose the song 'wings' by Little Mix because it is a new song that I enjoy listening too, so I wont get bored of listening to the song over and over again. I will have to work hard to make the original video look nothing like my video im making as it is a recent song and is well-known so making the music video will be a challenge.
Where- The singluar shots of the girls will be filmed with different background that describe their style and personality and ill also use some group shots of them together walking down the street and dancing together to show how close they are as friends which is meaning of the song. The shots of the girls together outside will show how they enjoy their time together and show how youths today go out and mix with their friends which is part of genre Pop. Ill use some shots of pictures, for example a butterfly flying to describe the chorus of the song that say "wing were made to fly", this shows that the girls will break out form their shells and become independent as their growing up and having to go into the world alone.
How- I will show the feelings and expressions of the charaters through close ups and mid shots that will shows body language to, so you can see the sort of clothes they are wearing that relate to the genre of the music. This will let me protray their kind of fashion styles and also their personalities as theyll have their own shots to dance and sing in. I will show this through edting to different shots from the singluar shots to group shots that explains the song narrative. I the lighting i use will vary as some will be out in day light when the girls are shown together and some will be in a darker lighting when there dancing allowing it to be seen as a party scene. Ill also use light on their faces so you can see them properly and brighten up their facial features.

Biography

The girls were born and bred in London, The Lazerlights are a four piece Pop girl band that have a passion for making music that isnt a typical Pop style as they like to use one main instrument to the song to get a good beat going that leads the whole song, for example the drums, guitar or pinao. The type of scene used for their music would be bright interesting colours that catch the audiences eyes as well as having dance steps in their videos as each girl has a different talent they bring to the band which makes them unique and stand out from other girl bands.

The band members include Beth, Becky, Sophie and Chloe who have known each other since they were teenagers. Beth and Chloe started getting into music at the age of 10 and would sing in front of the mirrow using a hair brush all dressed up in bright, fancy clothes which Beth's mum made for them. By the age of 15 they all meet at High school and became really close and Beth introduced Becky and Sophie to the music her and Chloe had been writing. This got the attention of Sophies uncle as he had a recording studio and started to work with the girls through their time at College, this became a big deal to them and started off their dream of becoming a girl band in the UK and being able to travel the world.

The girls grew up spending most of their time listen and writing music for their favourite subject in school e.g music. Their music teacher Mrs Slatter could see the pertental of the girls from a young age as they would spend most of their time in the music studio recording and preforming their music and when it came to a crowd of people they couldnt get enough. They would rush to the stage to perform and loved the spotlight being on them, but it was mainly fun for the girls they had aways dreamed of one dya making it but never thought they would become big around the world. All the students at St Judes College believed in the girls and gave them the push to go to Amercia and get a record deal as their music was all over youtube and they had set CD's to many different producers that they liked.

The girls started with a London based record label then moved to the US as they got an interview with a big record label EMI group which heard one of their songs on youtube and instucted them to come to the US straight away to get to know the girls and start working with them. The girls started with a busy skedule of studio time to interviews for the first month or two of their fame, and they had just finished school so the pressure was on. The girls showed the record label a few of their hand written songs which they had never shown anyone as they wanted them to be as good as possible before releasing them. The girls new hit 'wings' became a number one in the UK and US in 2009 and they rushed home to be with their families to celebrate there achievements together as family and friends are the most important things to the girls as they have been the people who have been there for them the whole time and believed in them. This is Beth one of the members of the band she is a funny, outgoing girl who likes to spend a lot of time with her friends and family as there the two most important things to her as well as her music. She also likes to go out to parties and enjoy her self. Beth has a modern style her clothes are very classic and smart.

This is Chloe and Sophie two other members of the band they are loud, fun and outgoing girls too. They like to go out with their friends to parties and spend a lot of time together. Their styles are very similar as they wear bright colourful clothes to get attention from others.

This is Becky the last member of the band she is sweet, outgoing and has good taste when it comes to fashion. She likes to style her own clothes and doesn't follow any trends. She likes to have fun with her friends and go out and have a good time.
