Fall Out Boys - Thanks For The Memories Video

This music video is a Amplification as its a simple video of the band performing but they use other scene through out the video to give it more variety. The narrative isn't simply illustrated in the video by using just the lyrics and sound they also amplify the creative interpretation using unusual ideas for example they use extras in the music video but they aren't people as such, they decide to use griller's to connect with the song and get the audience's attention. The direct link through this song is the beat as it stands out and brings the video together. This narrative is suggestive as it makes the viewers want to watch it over and over again as it is different and unique to other music videos. It also describes the bands music genre as they use many loud beat styles in there songs and extreme videos that will get the attention of the audience. It has a dominant music arrangement that gets the over all mood of the video which is the beat that gets that rock, blues kind of feeling across to the audience and they show this off by recording the drum beats and the style of guitar being used. The performance of the video is shown to be using lip sync that use close ups, mimed playing of the guitar and other instruments, using different camera shots and angles to get the feeling of the video caught in shots like sweeping crane and mid shot. The shots jump from long shots to mid shots to close ups to get the whole band in the shot and individual moves to capture the shot they want. Other movement shots like fast dolly to get movement of the characters into one shot as well as crane shot of over head to get the whole set into one shot. They use editing to go from one scene to another for example the band performing on the stage then to back stage seeing what happens behind the scenes. The shots are put together quickly and to sync with the song using only a few different locations. The lighting used is bright and stands out behind them, flashing and over head on there face to see there expressions better. The overall Mise-en-scene is the blues style of music video.

Panic At The Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies Video

This video is a Disjuncture as there is some links between the song and the video but not many obvious links. It is set in a church as two people are getting married and that is the narrative at the beginning but the title of the song explains every thing 'I write sins not tragedies'. Panic at the disco is a band but the main singer is only shown in this video. The people shown in the video are all dressed in costumes from the circus and the man from the band is the circus owner controlling everyone on what to do. The drum is the main instrument in the video as it stands out and is louder than the other instruments to show exaggeration in the song. They stand out to other bands as there music sound is different and they use close ups when lip syncing and the chorus is repeated a lot of the time with more exaggeration on it, using the usually camera shots and angles. The only two shots it goes from is the church to the main singer in a room on his own using close ups, long shots and extreme close ups which is jump cutting from shot to shot. The lighting is shown from above on some people and from the side on others to show two different sorts of people. The Mise-en-scene is getting people out the comfort zones and decovering the truth about themselves and others.

Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles Video

This video is a Amplification music video as Vanessa uses both performance and narrative in the video. The main feature in the video is the piano as she is on it the whole time and the director uses the fast dolly track shot to follow her movement as well as using a green screen for some of the background needed as they cant pull the piano around every where but they make it look as realistic as possible. The video links to the song and lyrics as when she sings she is moving and the shots are always different showing her in different set shots. They use a side shot of her a lot so you can see her playing the piano as they bring in the instrument. The narrative is very complex as it is just a girl on a piano going to different spots around america, which links to the song of the narratives concept. The piano sets the whole mood of the music video which is the dominant musical arrangement. The first camera shot is of the piano and then you see the artist and a long shot of her and the piano which sets the scene. It is shown to be a very friendly video as it includes many different people in a variety of different places. They use close ups and lip syncing through out the video and cut from her moving playing the piano to stood still with a background of people in different situation. The lighting it natural light but there is always a spot light above her to make her stand out. The overall concept of the Mise-en-scene is a love song say she will travel all over to be with the person she loves which is shown in the video by her moving the whole time.

Jo Jo - Too Little To Late Video

This video is a Amplification as they use many different scene through out the video. She uses both performance and narrative in the video which illustrates the lyrics and has an input of creative interpretations and ideas to make the video more interesting and stand out. There is a direct ling through the song which is using the beats of the drum which links the lyrics and makes them really stand out what she's trying to say. This narrative relates to many teen girls so the audience for the video would be limited but the reasoning for it can relate to many people that understand the concept of the video. The main mood shown in this is be-trail and this is shown by using the beat of the drums and the editing used when showing two different scene and you can see what both characters in the video are doing, which lets you decide who's in the wrong. At the beginning of the video close ups, long shots and extreme close ups are all used to get a feel of the narrative and shows the solo artist. This video is shown on a urban landscape in america using the football side to it and the parties they have, which connects with the audience. Extreme close ups are used through out to show the artist lip syncing. Camera shots use a lot of hand held movement so you can see the artist and how she feels from the way she move towards the camera. The lighting is light at the beginning and starts to get darker through out the video which sets the mood of the song, but light is always shown on her face. The whole Mise-en-scene is a break up and the lyrics connect to her feelings.

Rihanna - Take A Bow Video

This video is a Amplification as it is set in a house and uses more than just a green screen. In this video Rihanna uses creative interpretation for the meanings of her lyrics and uses ideas to make the video keep to the narrative of the song. The video has a direct link to the song throughout the video with the music and how the shots are put together to give it a meaning. The narrative is more suggestive for this video as the song has an element of two scenes used which shows her singing in the dark using close ups, long shots and shots of eyes allowing use to see her facial expressions and body language which adds more to the video. The other scenes that are used are of her and her boyfriend fighting using the house as the main set and also her in her car driving away from him using action shots of both sets forming into one, which tells the story from the lyrics. They use a lot of eye-line shots where she is looking into the camera and singing to the audience. The clapping in the video is the main beat that is carried through out the whole music video which also connects with the lyrics as well as using the piano which gives you a sense of a love song. This is more of an R&B landscape using the american streets as the set of the video. They use a fast dolly track shot which shows her in the car so they can get a moving shot of what's going on giving more effect to the song. The light is natural sun light when outside and they use over head light when she is inside and on the green screen to make her stand out.

Drake Ft Rihanna - Take Care Video

This video is a Illustration as it includes two people singing in the music video acting out the lyrics in the song as its a love song between two people but the video is pretty straight forward R&B video as it focuses on  both artistes mime in the song and it uses animals on a white background as they use a green screen when the artists are singing and as well when there are dancers on screen the only part that isn't done on a green screen is a few shots showing you the snow fallen mountains that set the scene for the song and connects with the feeling of the lyrics. The narrative of the video is loose as it is very complex and becomes boring to watch after a few views as there isn't much to the video. The overall mood is cap-chard by using a piano which gets the feeling of love and their are mid shots of them hugging and him singing to her about how he feels which describes the lyrics very well. Drake is the main featured artist in this video as there are many close ups jumping between long shots and extreme close ups of him miming which they use a lip synch. The editing used is jump cutting which is called montage editing which is where they have a visually on the artist but it jumps to other locations whilst he is singing and also showing animals and dancers moving to the beat of the music which provides for editing movement. The lighting is shown behind and on top of the artists when there singing to be able to see there face and body language, it stays with the colours black and white through out the video.

Album Covers 5

These covers are all different but they all stand out to me. I love how simple and plain Rizzle Kicks album cover is but it describes them straight off and the style of music they play, they don't put on a front they like to keep things simple and straight to the point as that's the type of people they are and the style of music they like. I also like the Frays album cover as it focuses on the light that spells the bands name but they have done editing to the people working past it to make them blurry and fade into the background which really crabs my attention.
