Album Artwork Anaylsis - 1

This is the front cover for the Parade girl band that was released in 2009. The presenting image itself could be described as fun, exciting and cheerful which shows that the girls are very close with each other as their shown to be close together by their body language, leaning on each other. Also each individual girl looks straigh into the camera showing a big smile on their faces for facial expressions to show their "happy" and "confident" in them selves. First looking at the photograph the image looks quite simple and bland likes theres nothing to it but if you look at it in more detail by segmenting each part I can see that the photo itself has more of a meaning to it than you would first believe. The main image is of the girls standing in a line together but the image could of been done in a completely different way by taken and individual picture of each band member then placing them next to each other to make it more effective to the eye, this links into the type of music video they do as well as the sort of genre style. The Pop, dancey music they create for their videos is fun on the ears and creative to the eyes and can sometimes link back to the album artwork. The band is placed in a certain way, close together with the tallest in the middle and the blondes on the end to express their style as in their music videos their placed like this quite a lot of the time. By doing this it makes sure all the girls are equal so their all shown on the same scale to express to the audience their one girl group and no ones singled out to the others. This makes it interesting to look at as its simple to the eyes and the bands name stands out in a bold bright colour. Each girl is standing in a different way that best describes their personality which shows a fun expressive style that works with the genre fo music. The reason I feel this image has worked is because it uses bright interesting colours and best fits the Pop girl band stereotype. Many girl bands are shown in bright colours and stylish clothing as this stands out aslo they are usually shown standing in a line showing their freindship and closeness. The girls make it their own as they all do different movements in the picture so they dont all look the same.
The colours used are farily bright and colourful which best fits the genre of music and the image of the girl bands style that is often a use of bright eye catching colours. These colours found on the cover of the album are usually appropriate to the style of music Pop. Colours like pinks, whites, light oranges and reds are found of all Pop albums so the target market know what their looking for when you walk into a music shop. The general layout of the album cover has been kept minimalistic. The typical title of the band/album is shown in the center of the page which is contrasted well with the simplistic photo of the girls in the background as they stand out through the title. The foreground of the bold pink title grabs the audiences attention and draws them in to then see the photo of the girls in the background.
To conclude, I think this cover works well in its own genre because of the colours being used and the position of the band members. The idea of a simple and effortless edited image that does give a lot of information to the reader is something I am keen on doing. I would properly place the title in a different position to make it look more effective and make the image the main focus of the page whilst the title doesnt feature as big, so my target market can see the band members better to make them understand them more.
